Prayer Sticks

Native American Prayer Sticks used by the Shaman all tell their own story and usually have a manuscript to go with them.

The set that this series of work was based on were for the Mountain Chant and would have been accompanied by their own manuscript. The set included 101 Prayer Sticks of different sizes colours and patterns strung together. The Shaman would use them during a healing ceremony for the chants, tracing the order in which they'd follow. Most rely on memory for preparation and order. The sticks are usually destroyed during the ceremony.
